It's a name most people don't know, and he is certainly not the inspiration of the title of the post. He is the mastermind behind my favorite addiction; www.xkcd.com
The website began with drawings from his school notebooks but continued even when he ran out of drawings. It is by his own description a webcoming of romance, sarcasm, math, and language. It is a thrice weekly haven for geeks, especially those who are math and physics minded.
Occasionally he has cartoons that are borderlining on the "Cartoon Porn" side of propriety, but for the most part he has smart comics.
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday a new comic is posted. Today's inspired this post because of the simple beauty of today's comic. I don't want to dwell on it, but if you want to look at it and enjoy a piece of the beauty of the world of mathematics I am reposting it here and encouraging you to check out his webcomic every Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
